Welcome to walkerasite.com
I have started this website to help newcomers to remote controlled
helicopters with their decision on what helicopter to start with. I
hope that this website will be helpful towards your choice.
There are so many types of R/C helicopters on the market to choose
from, so I decided that I will share my experience and helicopter
choice with you so that you don’t fall victim to a salesperson to
make an extra few dollars out of you.
I have started with the Walkera brand because they are good little
helicopters, cheap to maintain and their parts are easily
obtainable. Feel free to surf the web for more R/C helicopters, but
I think that you can’t go wrong to start with Walkera as your first
entry level helicopter brand. You can also purchase yourself a PC
flight simulator with transmitter on which you can start your R/C
helicopter training, but if you are daring like me, you can skip
this step and buy the real thing. Keep in mind that a flight
simulator can save you lots of money in the long run and will be
helpful later on for more advanced 3D flight training.
I have the Walkera #4, Walkera 4#3,
Walkera 4#3B, Walkera 5G6, Walkera 1#A, Walkera
#52
and Raptor G2.
Please read my reviews on my
helicopters. You will also find photo's and video clips.
How to buy your first
helicopter
Go to you nearest hobby shop, or buy online over the internet like I
did. Many people are still scared of buying online, but if it is a
trustworthy website, it's really safe and quick. All you need is a
valid credit card. I did a lot of web surfing to find the best deal
online. If you click
on the banners you will arrive at my websites of choice ( rc-fever, raidentech, xheli,
unitedmodelers, rcscale and himodel ) It will take about two weeks for your
helicopter to arrive if your
helicopter needs to be shipped, otherwise it could be sooner depending from
which country you order.
Tip before you order
your first helicopter
If there is a local helicopter flying club nearby, check in which
mode the guys are flying in so that if you need help with training,
they will be able to give you a hand.
Mode 1 transmitter: right hand throttle.
Mode 2 transmitter: left hand throttle.
You must also make sure which frequency band is legal at your local
club or country (35Mhz or 72Mhz).
Make sure you stipulate on your order form which transmitter
mode and
frequency.
To cancel out
any worries of Mhz frequencies, buy a helicopter with a 2.4GHz
transmitter.
DSM2 ( 2.4GHz
) provides
an impenetrable radio link that’s immune to
every known type of RC interference.
