I'm very
impressed with
the high quality
of the CopterX
450AE V2 Kit.
This helicopter
comes neatly
packed in a
small box, and
is 95% pre
assembled at the
factory. The CopterX 450AE V2
Kit is a cloned
version of the
Align T-Rex 450,
and a lot
cheaper. Take
note that this
helicopter is a
kit only, and
needs to be
assembled and
setup, but you
can buy the
CopterX 450AE V2
helicopter RTF
with
transmitter.

Technical and
Designing Review |
Include
with the CopterX 450AE
V2 Kit is one set of
wooden main rotor
blades. These blades can
be upgraded to carbon
fiber blades if you are
into heavy 3D flying,
but there is nothing
wrong with the supplied
main rotor blades. The
paddles are made from
plastic with two
separate flybar weights
that can be removed for
faster cyclic response.
If you are a beginner, I
will suggest that you
fly the helicopter with
the flybar weight first
for extra stability.
The main
rotor head assembly is
made from blue anodized
aluminum and is pre
assembled at the
factory. Two metal main
shaft bearing blocks ads
to the quality of the
CopterX 450AE V2 Kit.
The plastic main drive
and tail rotor gear
incorporates a newly
designed dual cooling
fan system that cools
the electronics down
during flight. Four
precision aluminum
laser cut side plates
ensure for a rigid main
frame, and gives the
CopterX 450AE V2
helicopter a solid
housing foundation for
all the electronics and
main shaft.
An
adjustable battery tray
can be adjusted to suite
larger and heavier LiPo
batteries. This will
ensures for a perfect
CG. The main frame base
plate and landing skid
struts are made from
strong durable plastic.
The aluminum landing
skids are held in
position with four
rubber nuts and can
easily be removed if
needed for replacement. An
aluminum tail gear
drive set ensures for a
perfect gear mesh with
the main tail drive
gear. The metal tail
boom lock secures the
tail boom in place with
eight screws to prevent
the loss of tail belt
tension during flight.
The CopterX 450AE V2
tail rotor is belt
driven. I personally
prefer a belt driven
tail rotor system above
a torque tube systems,
so this gives the
CopterX 450AE V2 Kit a
few extra bonus points
in my books.
The tail
rotor assembly is made
from blue anodized
aluminum, and is pre
assembled at the
factory. The two
supplied plastic rotor
blades works perfectly,
but can be upgraded to
carbon fiber blades if
needed. The feathering
of the tail rotor blades
are very smooth and will
ensure for accurate
pitch changes from the
tail servo. Aluminum
stabilizer fins gives
the CopterX 450AE V2
helicopter a nice look
and can be straitened
after a mild crash.
Plastic and carbon fiber
fins usually needs to be
replaced after a crash.
And
lastly, the CopterX
450AE V2 Kit comes with
a blue plastic canopy.
The supplied stickers
can be used to
personalize the canopy.
I found the edges of the
aluminum main frame to
be a bit sharp, so extra
caution should be taken
when installing the
electronics. That is the
only problem I have with
this kit. Other than
that, the quality and
design of the CopterX
450AE V2 Kit is superb.

Assembling
CopterX 450AE V2
Kit |
Assembling the CopterX
450AE V2 Kit is fairly
easy as 95% of the
assembling was already
done at the factory.
Simply pop the supplied
CD into your PC to view
or print the manual.
Follow all the steps and
the helicopter will be
fully assembled in no
time. I got myself the
CopterX 450 Electronic
Parts Package to test
their quality for this
review.

The
CopterX 450 Electronic
Parts Package includes:
• 4 x CopterX 9g servo
• CopterX 240Gyro
• CopterX 430XL 3500Kv
Brushless Motor
• CopterX 50A ESC with

The
three swash servo's fits
nicely into the servo
openings in the main
frame. The brushless
motor has two different
diameter holes for
securing it to the motor
mount. Use the two holes
nearest to the motor
shaft for a perfect fit
onto the motor mount. I
have fitted the ESC
below the battery tray.
This way it get
sufficient cooling from
the opening at the
bottom of the canopy.
Use the supplied double
side tape to secure the CopterX 240Gyro
on top of the tail boom
lock.

Specification:
CopterX 450AE V2 Kit |
Any R/C helicopter will
fly well if the setup is
done correctly. My
initial setup settings
ensures for a gentle
flying
CopterX
450AE V2 helicopter.
This helicopter flies
very well with no
unexpected surprises.
Hovering is a breeze
with the flybar weights,
and gives extra
stability. Transition
into forward flight is
very good with lots of
power available from the
CopterX 430XL 3500Kv
Brushless Motor. The
three CopterX 9g servo's
works well with no
centering problems. The CopterX 240Gyro
and tail servo works
well, but I still need
to tweak it a bit for
optimal performance. I'm
using the 11.1V 25C
2200mAh
BatteryHobby Lipo
battery that gives me
about 8 minutes of
flight time. After
flight, all the
electronics temperatures
are slightly warm, and
is a good indication
that all systems are
working well together.
There is no doubt in my
mind that the CopterX
450AE V2 helicopter will
handle any harsh 3D
flying as the overall
quality is very good.
Great helicopter...Great
flying pleasure...
